Let’s talk about some of the problems in the industry. You can see the constant “venting” here on LinkedIn – and if you’ve been following my #jontent all last summer, I’ve had plenty of fun piling on. That’s because I feel the pain too! What we often talk about are the flaws, rather than the solutions. And that’s what Covert Recruiting is here for.
Let me rattle off a few…
There’s often a ton of info rattling around. What matters? What are you NOT being told? When you’re a candidate OR a hiring manager, this whole thing can seem too transactional. What we’d all like is a bit more TRANSPARENCY.
When you’re a manager wanting to hire a squad of A+ talent, you can’t just expect it to fall in your lap. And job seekers can sometimes feel like they’re on an island – especially when they turn to the job boards and flood the thankless internet with resumes. A little increased COLLABORATION goes a long way.
Hey Hiring Managers: Ever have recruiters send you totally irrelevant resumes? It’s the worst. So lazy. Hey Candidates, ever get those crappy spam emails for jobs that you would never want from recruiters that know nothing of your skill set? Let’s try and ramp up the QUALITY of the experience.
Sometimes you get lucky. I make the joke (a bad one, my only kind) that you can find your dream job by applying to a want ad on Craigslist. There’s better ways to search, and there’s better ways to find talent. Any team looking to grow knows it’s a must to have RELIABILITY when you’re working with a recruiting firm. ‘Cause if we’re going to get lucky, I think we’d all rather have it be with Powerball…
If you have a sharp eye (or get agitated at ALL CAPS), I just talked about transparency, collaboration, quality, and reliability. Those are Covert Recruiting’s core values. Check back later for more thoughts on those.
