Ok, so we talked about company and networking target lists in earlier posts. Where do you actually find this stuff?
For me as a RecruiterGuy based in Chicago, this stuff comes easier for me than most. It’s daily conversations and industry knowledge, so I can spit out a list in minutes. Just how it goes. But – there are some pretty good resources out there (and I’m sure other markets & locations have similar) to find.
My favorites are Crain’s “Best Places To Work” and Built In Chicago Top 100. Or Google something similar.
Most of these list pages will offer up a brief story on WHY each company is great to work at, a link to their homepage, and some more intel. They’re often not super easy to sort by industries, but hey… do some work on your own!
Honestly, I don’t really need much else after these two sites. You can spend a TON of time networking with each place, so if you’re doing it right, you’re going to find yourself hooked up at one of those companies before too long.
And besides, who wants to work at the 300th best company in town?
